Eugene Joseph School

Location: Tachie, Tl’azt’en Nation

Description: August of 2017 Dado Construction Ltd became the general construction contractor on site at the Eugene Joseph School in Tachie, Tl’azt’en Nation. The school was damaged by a sprinkler system discharge and was down for the winter.

Dado Construction worked under the supervision of the project manager from McFarland, Marceau Architects Ltd in Vancouver to deliver on the renovation, then proceed through 3 more phases of renovations to the existing school.

Dado Construction repaired drywall, painted the interior and exterior of the school, fixed existing cedar siding, installed all new exterior and some interior doors complete with hardware, poured new sidewalks and pads, provided site security, supervision and safety, ordered and installed school equipment, painted murals, subcontracted new flooring and base, provided new sinks, faucet and kitchen equipment, while working with both subcontractors, the project manager and Band liaison’s.

A high light of the project was working with the project manager to set up a sensory room for the children, a cultural room for traditional use and preparation of moose and game, and the painting of traditional pictographs on the exterior of the school.
